Famous Egyptian Reflection

Filed under: Social Studies — willemijn at 7:46 am on Wednesday, April 25, 2007

“Think about class today and reflect on the presentations you listened to.”

I think the presentation of everyone was Great! Everyone had their costumes, and I could see they worked hard. The information was also quite interesting, they all had enough details to really know who they actually are and what they have done. They all presented their information nice and loud, and also quite funny. It was really funny to see some boys in skirts and dresses; now they can feel how it is to wear tide clothes!
What I actually found weird, is that there was a lot of fighting between the gods and godesses and pharaohs. Some of them were really mean like Set. He killed so many people, because he was “jealous.”

“What would you change to improve your speech/presentation if you were to do the assignment again?”

If I were to do the assignment again, I would make my speech a bit longer with a bit more details, because I have a lot of facts though, I don’t have the details that fit to it.
I would also be like a bit more “funny,” because the point is: I tried to be funny, but I had the feeling no one laughed. So, I was a bit embarresed.
For the rest, I think my speech was all right.

Ramses II

Who do you think is the third pharaoh in the nineteenth century? Exactly! That is me!. I am Ramses II and I was a very important pharaoh. Many people loved me, and I had many wives. In total I had more than 100 children. People still worship me. I made many structures.

I was the third pharaoh of the nineteenth century. I was a Great builder, and known as Ramses the Great. I was also known as Egypt’s greatest warrior and the peacemaker. My sister was Princes Tia, and my father was Seti I. I lived in the Valley of the Kings. I was born in 1279 BC and I died in 1213 BC. I was 80 when I dies, which was very rare in those days. I ruled for 67 years as a pharaoh and that is very long, because the normal people jus rule for 4 years, so that is almost 17 times as much.

I was a great builder, and a great warrior. I built monuments, temples, pyramids, and tombs. I also built the capital : Ree- Ramses (which means City of Ramses.). I wrote my name in the wall of the temples so deep, that no one ever could erase it. Pretty smart huh?

People still worship me, because I was such a great pharaoh. I was also a very important one. I made peace with the Hitties to marry a Hitian woman. The the Hitties and the Egyptians worshipped me both. You can still find me in the Egyptian museum in Cairo.

People respected me because I built temples, and monuments. I was 20 when I became pharaoh. I hope you learned a lot about me, and hope that you are going to visit me in the museum in Cairo and my temples. I also hope you are going to worship me!

1.) What new information has emerged?

The new information that has emerged is that someone who was really crazy in his head shot his roommates at 7.15 am. He killed two people. Two hours later he shot the students and the teacher in his classroom at the Virginia Tech Universiti. There, 31 people died including the killer, and 15 people were injured since they fell when they tried to escape from the window.

2.) What did you find interesting about this topic?

I think it is really sad, that because this man was stressed so many people had to die. And I think it is weird that why did he kill so many people when he finally killed himself? Why did not he just kill himself whithout hurting other people?
I find it interesting that this shooting accedent was the worst in the history of the US.

3.) What did you like about the initial posting?

I really liked the way Seari explained the “What is the issue?” question. She had a paragraph full of details with explaining everything she knew from the article. I also think she had good ideas with what she would do if she was directly involved.

What is the issue?

The report about global warming is written and checked by many scientists, and they found out that the global warming can have dramatic effects such as rising sea levels. The report also said that 30 percent of the world’s coastlines could be lost by 2080.
In Mexico City, scientists think that global warming could destroy the Brazilian rain forest up to 30 percent. They said ocean levels are going to rise 4.3 feet by 2080 and flood low-lying cities such as Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, The Netherlands, and Buenos Aires, Argentina.
So after all, the Global Warming is right now, and if we do not do something before 2080, we will all have those effects that will change the world in a complete different place.

Who is involved?

1. Scientists

2. Actually everyone in the world

Who will be affected and how?

Everyone will be effected because, everyone might die from those effects.

The world will be affected, because it will might turn in a world with only water.

What would I do if I was directly involved?

Well, I will hang up some posters with “STOP GLOBAL WARMING! YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!,” and hope that everyone will: re-cycle glass bottles, jars, newspapers and magazines and tin cans, re-use plastic shopping bags, and envelopes, use paper on both sides, give unwanted clothes and gifts to a charity shop, only fill the kettle up with the amount of water you need, don’t leave the TV or computer on standby, if you get a lift in a car take your friend with you, and switch of the lights when you are not in the room.
