Homework for Block D (Wednesday 29 November)
On Thursday I heard a lot of interesting things about Africa which I didn’t know. Here are some things I learned:
- Songhai was as big as Mali and Ghana together.
- Since the food of Iron increased the population also increased.
- In 880 they were already able to trade!
And the most interesting and suprising thing I found is:
The sultan of Morocco needed more money to pay his army, so in the 1880’s he planned to attack Mangsor. And he also thought that he would be greater to take a country.                                                                                                                           So, in 1886 he began to take over salt mines. Half of the soldiers of Songhai died, and he got the slaves, salt, and some gold. The political unity of Ghana, Mali, and Songhai was destroyed, and the salt and gold ended and was wasted.                       Now, the Morrocan still rule the area, and still live there.
