“Saddam Hussein sentenced to death.” CBBC Newsround, Sunday November 05 2006 12:47 GMT.<http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/newsid_6110000/newsid_6118200/6118214.stm> (Tuesday November 07 2006 7:43 p.m.)

What new information has emerged?

The new information that has emerged is that Saddam Hussein is going to get the death sentence, because he killed 148 people. So in Baghdad, they are celebrating, but in Tikrit they are still protesting, and think that what Sadam Hussein did, is good.

What did you find interesting about this topic?

What I found interesting about this topic is that people in Tikrit still are supporting Sadam Hussein after he killed so many people. I mean, do they want that him to continue killing people?

What did you like about the initial posting?

I liked the way Johan explained the “What is the issue?” question, so that I really could understand what he was saying, and what it was about. And I also think he had really good pictures that you could really see what is happening in the Middle East.

I think Johan did a really good job!

Describe your life story.
My life story is mostly about tennis. And that is also my hobby with playing golf. My two favorite things to eat are an ice cream and pizza.
My nationality is Dutch, and I have been in France, Italy, and Great Britain as well. But now I live in Malaysia.
Now, I am 11 years old, and I am born in Holland. I have one brother: Sebastiaan, and two sisters, Annemijn and Rozemarijn. My mother’s name is Maridine, and my father is named Stijn.

How will I demonstrate this in iMovie?
I want to divide it into a timeline; so for example first a Dutch flag, and then when I was really small until the day of today. For the rest, I will just put pictures from everything, so I am going to put a picture of a tennis racket for tennis, a golf ball for golf, a nice ice cream and a pizza for my favorite food, and so on.

What challenges will I face completing this project?
One challenge I will face completing this project is the music, because I just cannot hear it when I am clicking on it. Another challenge is that I lost a picture of a tennis racket.
How will I overcome them?
I will overcome them to ask help from my neighbors Gabriela or Lilian, otherwise I will just ask Ms. C.
And for the picture, I think I just have to find it at home again.

What is the issue?

A storm from 124 mph has hit the Philippines and killed a 28-year-old woman and her child. There were also people killed on the island of Luzon. Thousands of people had to leave their homes to avoid flooding. And the wind is also causing a lot of damage in the houses.

Who is involved?

  • the government of the Philippines
  • the people who died (including the woman with her child)
  • all the people from the Philippines
  • Typhoon Cimaron (the storm)

Who is affected and how?

  • the government of the Philippines, because it is their country, and maybe they are also responsible for the damage in some people’s houses.
  • the people who died, because they are dead, and that is really sad.
  • Typhoon Cimaron because, that was the storm who killed many people.
  • and just all the people who live in the Philippines as well, because they had to leave their houses.

What would you do if you were directly involved?

What I would do, is get some money out of pocket and I would give the people some money who lost everything. I also would help to build some houses up again that people can just live the way they did.
