Homework for Block E and Block H (Friday 6 October)

Filed under: Social Studies — willemijn at 3:32 am on Monday, October 9, 2006

What I learned in class Friday, was that many countries live under the poverty line. I heard someone saying 80%! That also suprised me very much, because I used to live in the Netherlands where they are very rich, and no one lives there under the poverty line.

I was finding it really interesting to listen to all the presentations. So now I know some countries are really poor, and maybe we should raise money for those countries!

Part III: Preliminary Observations and Inferences

The Phillipines faces a number of challanges. One of these challenges is the life expectancy rate is really low (appr.70). Which I think is a problem because, it also is because the country does not have enough money. That is the next problem: 40% of the population lives under the poverty line, and I think that is so much to high! The other problem is the GPD per capita is only $5,100, and that is also much to low.

Part IV: Reflection

What did you learn from this task?

I learned that many countries are very poor, and that many people live under the poverty line. I also learned that some countries have a high GPD per capita, but there is a high percentage living under the poverty line, that means that they are not sharing the money. So, that some people are very rich with a swimmingpool in their garden, but some people are very poor, and they are maybe lucky to find some good material to build their house with.

Did you find this difficult or easy? Why?

In this task, some things were hard, but there were also some thing whic were easy. Two thigs were hard for me: writing the paragraph, and doing the presentation. Writing the paragraph, because I wrote a paragraph, and I did not really understand the corrections, and that paper that says that I had to give an example. Because I mean, how can you give an example in this task? Finally I just wrote a short paragraph with just the problems. Giving a presentation, was also difficult because I did not know I ad to give one, so I did not really prepair for it!

And one thing which was really easy for me, was finding the information about the country. It was really easy, beacuse it was already written for you on the site, so you just could copy it, and paste it in your document.

What else would you like to learn about creating Google Earth maps?

Add anything else you are thinking about in relation to this project.

I think that the Google Earth maps are really cool, beacuse it can move to every country, and show the information. Well, only from the countries my classmates have done.

I also would like to create a Google Earth map, that I also can see how cool it is what I have done!Â
